Glenn has been practicing law since 1990. He graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School and passed the Washington Bar exam on his first attempt. Glenn grew up in Wisconsin next to his grandparents' farm, attended the University of Wisconsin as an undergrad and graduate student. He finished his bachelor's degree at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, studying political economy.
Glenn did not grow up the privileged child of lawyers or other professionals. Of the 262 persons in his law school class, he was one of a handful whose parents were not college graduates. Glenn had to work numerous jobs throughout college and law school. He truly understands what it means to struggle financially and to face the daunting costs of litigation.
Glenn does not ask his clients to call him "Mr. Tanner" and for six years, Hershey, Glenn's Weimeraner dog went to the office with him daily.
Glenn is married to Christine, a social worker and therapist. Glenn and Christine lived in the Puget Sound area for 15 years and recently purchased a 1910 Spokane home on the National Register of Historic Places. Glenn is an avid bicyclist and runner. He has completed the Seattle to Portland (STP) ride in one day, Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day (RAMROD), regularly places in his age category in running races and enjoys competing in basketball tournaments. In his spare time Glenn enjoys theatre, hiking, camping, gourmet cooking and good wines. His favorite magazines are Harpers, The Progressive, and The Sporting News.
Glenn has volunteered in the past with Habitat for Humanity and ArtsWest, a theatre and arts organization serving West Seattle. Glenn is a member of Spokane Preservation Advocates (SPA) Bloomsday Roadrunners Club, Spokane Bicycle Club and the West Seattle Runners Club.
